It is an old system that includes the practice of asana (yoga postures) and pranayama (breathing exercises), which help bring peace to the mind and body, preparing the body for deeper spiritual practices such as meditation. After officially becoming a Yoga Instructor and Reiki Practitioner, I turned my focus to develop and provide three distinct classes; Gentle Hatha Yoga, Hatha Yoga for Chronic Pain, Anxiety and Trauma, and Hatha Chakra Balancing Yoga. Through the benefits of Hatha Yoga, these classes are designed to address some of the more specific physical, spiritual and thought pattern issues with which people may struggle. I have worked with clients in Ohio and Canada to become physically, mentally, and spiritually stronger on their life journey. Using the asana and pranayama of Hatha Yoga, I have worked with students to address drug and alcohol recovery, anxiety and depression issues as part of an overall recovery program, mind mapping, mindfulness and meditation to help students think about trauma in a different way, balance the energy flow to each of the seven chakras, while providing a quiet, meditative class for all levels of ability. My belief is that anyone, of any physical level, can participate in Yoga and derive amazing results and improvement if they have a willing spirit. My practice of Yoga is to provide ideas for individualization to each individual in class. This includes modified poses, chakra balancing, and mind mapping ideas so that students can be successful and gain confidence in their abilities.
